Emmaus is a borough just south of Allentown at the foot of South Mountain. Homes near the base of a slope collect runoff from higher ground, so a basement here can take water both from rain hitting the yard and from water moving downhill under the surface.
That means the fix sometimes starts outside: regrading the soil so it slopes away from the foundation, extending downspouts several feet from the house, or adding a drain to catch water before it reaches the wall. Interior drainage with a sump pump handles what still gets through. When the company visits, walk the outside of the house with them and point out where water pools after storms. Work on the borough's sidewalks or curbs, such as running a discharge line to the street, may need permission from Emmaus borough, so ask the contractor who arranges that.
